Aaron Hall - Biography
Born 10 August 1964, the Bronx, New York, USA. Singer, songwriter and producer Hall rose to fame as lead singer of the pioneering swingbeat outfit Guy. The trio, who split up in 1991, enjoyed several US hits with singles such as "I Like", "I Wanna Get With You" and "Let's Chill". Hall enjoyed immediate success of his own when the single "Don't Be Afraid', taken from the soundtrack of Ernest R. Dickerson's Juice, became a huge radio hit. His debut album, 1993"s The Truth, was equally split between up-tempo dance tracks and romantic ballads, with "Don't Be Afraid" included in two radically different mixes. The album also included another big US hit, "Miss You". Hall also continued to work on soundtrack material, contributing "Gonna Give It To You" to Above The Rim and "Curiosity' to Dangerous Minds. His second album release, 1998"s Inside Of You, was a more sombre work informed by the death of his mother and young son. At the end of the decade, Hall reunited with brother Damion and Teddy Riley to record a new Guy album, the disappointing Guy III.
